Throughout the history of Kansas, transportation has been the life blood of the state’s communities. Roads serve as the arteries for locally produced products and the veins for merchandise needed by her residents. Technology advanced transportation from the horse and buggy, to steam-powered locomotives, to high-speed S-U-Vs and large tractor-trailers. Hundreds of towns were founded along transportation routes. Three such towns were Trousdale, Fellsburg, and Centerview, all in southeastern Edwards County.

A geographical reference established over a century ago links generations of the past with those of the future.  The 'Parallel' became a major farm to market transportation route that now links the remains of three tiny communities.  Modern GPS and GIS technologies based on latitude and longitude can pinpoint the exact location of any place on Earth.  These technologies have penetrated almost every aspect of daily life and ensure that the locations of Trousdale, Fellsburg and Centerview will not be forgotten.

This is the unique story of these communities, as told by the descendants of the original pioneers.  The good, the bad, the funny, the sad, the obvious and the mysterious give each community its identity and link to the next generation.
